Sofia & rila monastery

First day:

Early morning departure; Plovdiv – a walking tour of the old Quarter, visit to St. Constantine and Helena church; Roman amphitheatre; lunch; time at leisure in downtown Plovdiv; early afternoon departure to our capital Sofia – walking tour of the capital’s landmarks (St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral, the National Assembly of building, St. Nikolas Russian Church, the Royal Palace, the Presidency, the Roman Rotunda and St. Nedelya Church) time at leisure.  Accommodation in hotel, free time and dinner.

Second day:

Breakfast, early morning departure to Rila Monastery – the biggest and the most beautiful one in the country, an excellent example of the Bulgarian Revival arts and architecture; monastery sightseeing tour and time at leisure; lunch; comfort stop en route at Borovets – a mountain ski resort and late evening return.
