Early morning departure, panoramic tour around the Bolkan Mountains; arrival in Veliko Turnovo – mediaeval capital of Bulgaria; visit to Samovodene Market street with the opportunity to see the craftsmen at work; visit to the historical Tsarevets Hill – a walk around the mediaeval fortress walls and palaces, witnesses of the old Bulgarian capital’s glory; lunch; late afternoon visit to the village of Arbanassi – the favorite summer residence for the high officials from the capital city of Turnovo and an important trade center.
Today the village is declared an architectural reserve possessing numerous historical buildings and the houses of the merchants resembling impregnable fortress from outside but with beautifully decorated interior; visit to the “Holy Mother of God” Arbanassi Monastery, founded in 12th century, having in display precious 16th century wall paintings, the monastery also treasures the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mery; visit to “St. Peter & Paul” Lyaskovo Monastery, famous for its close connections with the Bulgarian history and the incredible panoramic view; late evening return.
